Any and all Houghton University students are invited to participate in the 6th annual Activate Leadership Conference on January 27-28, 2023. This conference on campus will include a keynote speaker, the opportunity to learn more about your strengths and abilities, and to participate with peers in a Positive Change Project.

The $25 cost includes dinner on Friday and meals on Saturday as well as conference materials. Please contact the Office of Vocation and Calling if you would like to be considered for a scholarship for this event at rachel.wright@houghton.edu.

Friday, Jan. 27:

5:45 PM - Welcome & Overview
6:00 PM - Catered Dinner
7:00 PM - Keynote One: What Makes the Most Powerful Leaders? with Marlena Graves
7:45 PM - Communion with Dr. Michael Jordan
8:15 PM - Riding the Elephant: How to lead Change with Dr. Alex Wright
9:15 PM - Ideation Session with Rachel Wright

Saturday, Jan. 28:
8:30 AM - Registration Opens
8:45 AM - Worship with the Joshua Band
9:00 AM - Keynote 2: Discerning My Place in the Kingdom of God with Marlena Graves
10:00 AM - Your Gifts and the Kingdom of God: Exploring Strengths with Dr. JL Miller
11:00 AM - Boxed lunches & Positive Change Project Work Time
12:45 PM - Afternoon Kick-off
1:00 PM - Spiritual Formation and Christian Leaders: Using Our Strengths to Connect with God with Dr. JL Miller
1:45 PM - Reflection Time
2:15 PM - Positive Change Work Time with Groups
5:30 PM - Positive Change Presentations over Dinner
6:30 PM - Conference Debrief breakout sessions

Pursuing Ph.D. in American Culture Studies at Bowling Green State University
Noted author of several books including:
- A Beautiful Disaster: Finding Hope in the Midst of Brokenness
- The Way Up is Down: Becoming Yourself by Forgetting Yourself
- Forty Days on Being a Nine: Enneagram Daily Reflections

Professor of Spiritual Formation at Northeastern Seminary where she completed her Master of Divinity degree

Food Provided (Buffet Dinner on Friday; light breakfast on Saturday; boxed lunches on Saturday; snacks provided throughout the event; dinner in the South End Dining Hall on Saturday through the line.)
