What Does it Mean to Be a First-Generation Student at Dartmouth?
Dartmouth defines a first-generation college student as one whose parent(s)/guardian(s) does not hold a bachelor’s degree, which is traditionally a four-year degree.

How Does Dartmouth College Support First-Generation Students?
Dartmouth College is home to over 700 first-generation students. The FGO was established in 2019 to provide support to each first-generation student throughout their tenure at Dartmouth and beyond.

While many are familiar with our oldest program, The First-Year Student Enrichment Program (FYSEP), which is a four-week pre-orientation program that provides wrap-around support to our incoming first-generation, low-income students, the FGO also supports our King Scholars, and plans are underway to develop our Prepare to Launch Program (PLP).

As members of our community, you are invited to celebrate our First-Generation Students @ Dartmouth with us and attend these events! Also, feel free to use our handy Virtual Background in celebration of the day!
