Details

In this event, we will have two graduate students specializing in areas of computer hardware design give an introductory talk on computer hardware. You will learn about various types of hardware devices, usages, and future innovations in that space. Topics range from general purpose processors like CPUs and GPUs, to more application-specific devices like FPGAs and ASICs.

The event will be held in ENB 313 starting at 12pm, and will have FREE pizza and drinks available for attendees. We will also live stream virtually through Teams. If interested, please register here!

Brooks Olney is currently pursuing the PhD degree in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of South Florida. He received his B.S. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of South Florida in 2018. His research interests include hardware/software/cyber security, hardware/algorithm acceleration using FPGAs, and FPGA security. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, exercise, video games, and working on side projects.

Mateus A. Fernandes A. is currently pursuing the M.S. degree in Computer Engineering at the University of South Florida. He received his B.S. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of South Florida in 2021. His research interests include hardware/software security, bio-inspired robotics/systems/algorithms, and bio-implantable/wearables. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and watching videos about technology, philosophy, health, comedy, and games.
