Altruistic giving is a driving force in the nonprofit sector. It's allowed nonprofits One for the World and The Life You Can Save to support underserved communities abroad and domestically. Now, these nonprofits are teaming up to demonstrate how to give altruistically.

Neela Saldanha is the Executive Director at the Yale Research Initiative on Innovation and Scale (Y-RISE) at Yale University. The mission of Y-RISE is to develop the science of scaling policy interventions for development. Previously, Neela was the Founding Director of the Center for Social and Behaviour Change (CSBC), funded by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. CSBC advances the study of evidence-led behavior change interventions for populations living in poverty in India. She has also consulted with several organizations working on behavior change and development such as the Busara Center for Behavioral Economics, Surgo Ventures, Noora Health, Innovations for Poverty Action (large-scale community mask trial in Bangladesh) and has designed and taught behavioral science courses to students and professionals. Neela combines her skills in the social sector with deep private sector expertise. Over 15 years in the private sector she has led teams in brand management, consumer insights, strategy consulting, and behavioral science at Nestle, Unilever, Accenture, and PepsiCo, across India and in global roles.  Neela is proud to be on the Board of The Life You Can Save. She is also a board member of the Grameen Foundation, which aims to empower the poor, especially women, to create a world without poverty and hunger.

Emily Holway joined One for the World during her time as an MBA student at the Wharton school of business, where she first pledged a percentage of her income to highly effective nonprofits. She became an advisory board member of One for the World in 2021, and has since organized many corporate talks to bring effective giving to her work place. Emily is a Senior Associate Consultant at Bain & Company, where she has worked for three years. She is an eager advocate for One for the World and for effective giving in general.

Alex is a Brooklyn-based designer of digital things helping redesign Giving What We Can. Most recently, Alex led our visual rebrand and created our new Quilted Heart logo. He is most passionate about petting all the dogs but also about AI safety, design ethics, and growing the effective altruism community.

Richard Feiner has more than twenty years of development and fundraising experience in disciplines ranging from medical research and community health to environmental protection and historic preservation. He currently is Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Weill Cornell Medicine, where he works with philanthropic donors and social impact investors to advance biomedical research, to support direct health service initiatives, and to catalyze health technology entrepreneurship.



Prior to WCM, Richard was the Director of Development, North America for the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi), an international NGO co-founded by Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) that is dedicated to increasing access to and developing new and improved treatments for some of the world’s most neglected diseases. He managed an international team responsible for public/private partnerships with, (among others), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation.



Prior to his nonprofit career, Richard held positions in investor relations and business-to-business marketing and was an analyst at Morgan Stanley for the Tokyo Stock Exchange.



He is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP).
