Skylar Everett
The Helen Rucker Center for Black Excellence
Skylar Everett is a Business Administration major with a focus in Accounting and a dedicated social justice advocate who uses her platform—through music, social media, and writing (both academic and personal)—to uplift positive messages for women, sexual assault survivors, and the Black community. She was recently hired for a summer internship as a Guide, Pilot, and Steer Intern at Moss Adams Accounting Firm, adding to her extensive leadership experience as a Resident Advisor, Tutor at the Cooperative Learning Center, Student Assistant for UACE, and student researcher for the African Heritage Research Collaborative. In addition to her advocacy and leadership, she researches Black-owned businesses, exploring their economic impact and sustainability. A mentor and leader for Black students on campus, she is deeply involved in fostering community and support. In her free time, Skylar enjoys crocheting, reading—particularly works by Black female authors like Audre Lorde, Zora Neale Hurston, and bell hooks—writing, producing, and performing music. She loves spending time with her boyfriend, Earl, two cats (Mitsy and Atreus), her dog (Duke), and her family.

Lesley Solano
Lesley Solano, pronouns She/Her/Ella, is a Senior here at CSUMB, with a Major in Collaborative Health and Human Services and minor in Global Studies. She currently serves as the Social Justice Scholars Program Student Coordinator, and last year had the honor of helping to organize the International Women's Day of events!

Mikayla Castillo
Mikayla Castillo, pronouns they/them, is a fourth year psychology major with a minor in human development and family sciences. They are currently the student coordinator of community arts for the OC3 and has created spaces for discussions revolving around abolition and decolonization.

Valerie Madriaga Elder
Otter Cross Cultural Center
Valerie Madriaga Elder, she/her was born in Carmel, CA, and her ancestors hail from Cavite and the Luzon region of the Philippines. She acknowledges that she would not be where she is today without the bravery of her grandfathers, who chose to join the U.S. Army during a time of colonial uncertainty in their homeland. Valerie is a TRIO SSS transfer student from Monterey Peninsula College and a mother of two adult children, one of whom graduated with a degree in Kinesiology from CSUMB in 2024.

Jacky Flores
Rainbow Raft Pride Center
Jacky Flores (they/them) and is a student coordinator at Rainbow Raft. Jacky a third year HCOM major with a concentration in Creative Writing and Social Action. They are a proud first generation latine lesbian with a love of poetry and writing. They’re also a program coordinator in Rainbow Raft focused on creating events that highlight queer POC individuals within our community. As a nonbinary latine lesbain, it is so important for them that queer POC individuals feel represented and welcomed in a space that has excluded a part of their identity in some way or another. They hope they can continue bringing love and community together for years to come within Rainbow Raft and the CSUMB campus.

Lara Arias
El Centro
Lara Arias (she/her) is a second-year Marine Science major, originally from Panama. She moved to the U.S. and currently serves as the Diversity, Advocacy, and Outreach Coordinator at El Centro, where she plays a key role in fostering community engagement and support. Lara is also the Social Media Director for CAUSA Club, a newly established organization focused on uplifting and connecting Central American students on campus. Outside of her academic and leadership roles, Lara enjoys reading, spending time with her friends, and listening to music.
