New Student Convocation

Welcome! Every participant will begin their day by checking in with our staff by showing a form of identification. Please have the "Campus Groups" app downloaded to your phone to expedite the process.

Wear comfortable, closed toed shoes and bring your water bottle. Clothing appropriate to the variable weather is recommended as this event is outdoors. Please consider wearing layers, a sunhat, and sunscreen.

Let's kick off the day by joining us for announcements and meeting our Otter Day Leaders! We'll share important information about your transition to CSUMB and how best to get involved with free and fun on-campus events for Otter Days!

At this time, you'll mix and mingle with fellow classmates, learn otter traditions and cheers.

The pinning ceremony is a CSUMB tradition marking your pursuit of academic success at a higher education institution. Your interim Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. John Fraire will bestow this tradition for all new otters.

As we conclude our New Student Convocation, you will be enveloped in a CSUMB tradition involving campus community members, staff and faculty who will cheer you on as you process to the Main Quad for the BBQ.
