Leadership: It's All About You

Leadership and its proper execution seem to be often described as the development of habits and interpersonal skills that lead to positive outcomes. The hope being these positive outcomes benefit those directly and indirectly involved in the situation. However, this model can lead one to see leadership as a means to an end rather than a way of being—or better yet a way of doing. We will go over habits, values, and practices that are intrapersonal in nature, and discuss how such work prepares one for the moments in which leadership is required of them.

The Rocks of Leadership

The purpose of this presentation is to help current and aspiring student leaders identify/discover their rocks and then how to ensure that these rocks become the foundation of their leadership in a healthy, reflective and discerning manner.

A (Taylor) Swift New Way to Speak Up for your Beliefs

Taylor Swift has used her musical work and her platform to speak up for her beliefs. She has written multiple songs and a documentary highlighting a need for advocacy and social justice. Taylor's songs The Man, Only the Young, The Archer, and Clean all contain advocacy messages addressing a social justice issue. These songs will be played and analyzed to determine their messages and impact on society. Swift has shown an example of leadership by speaking up, and participants will learn that music can be a powerful tool to express your beliefs and take a stance!

Making Sense of Leadership

How you make sense of what it means to become a leader informs how you are a leader. In this session, participants will explore that transformation and process of self-discovery by reflecting on their past, present, and future selves. Participants will also consider how they are simultaneously engaged a process of becoming and being a leader at the same time, and how they aspire to lead in their own unique, authentic ways.
