The Outdoor Action Leader Training Trip is the capstone activity of OA Leader Training. This 6-day trip allows you to practice and develop your leadership skills in an outdoor setting to prepare you to lead day and multi-day Outdoor Action Trips. Outdoor Action is offering Leader Training Trips in May after final exams for students who have completed all of the on-campus leader training workshops. Participation is free (OA pays for all expenses).

Tentative Date Range: May 14 - May 22
We plan to offer a Cabin-based Leader Training trip for those interested in leading campus-based trips in the fall and a Basecamp/Backpacking Leader Training trip for those interested in leading trips that do overnights outdoors.

This Interest List is to indicate your interest in participating in the LTT and is not formally assigning you to a trip. We will follow-up with everyone to confirm your eligibility and to check your final exam schedule to see when you are first available to go on a trip. As you can imagine, the specific departure/return dates are also dependent on when Leader Trainers have completed their exams, so we do not have specific trip dates at this time.

Once the final exam schedule is posted, you will need to complete a LTT Scheduler Google Form which we will send you as soon as the exam schedule is released.

PLEASE TELL US YOUR FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE SO WE CAN ASSIGN YOU TO A TRIP: https://forms.gle/97LjNhXtXQ7gFGSH9

If you need adaptions to the trip schedule for religious observations (including Shabbat) or other special needs, please email oa@princeton.edu

Below is general LTT information:
_____________________________________________

Leading a group on a multi-day trip either in a base camp setting or a backcountry setting requires extensive training in outdoor camping skills, effective first aid, judgment and decision making, leadership and group facilitation. The final part of OA Leader Training is the Leader Training Trip (LTT), a 6-day trip which pulls together all of the skills you have been learning all through on-campus training. During the trip participants will be Leaders-of-the-day and in charge of the group including route planning, equipment preparation, travel techniques, map and compass, outdoor cooking, first aid and emergency response, and Leave No Trace camping.

In order to be eligible for an LTT, you must have previously completed all of the "on-campus" components of OA Leader Training:
- Wilderness First Aid & CPR
- Managing Safety Workshop
- Leadership Workshop Series (101 & 102)

If you are participating in the Basecamp/Backcountry Leader Training Trip you also need to complete
- Outdoor Technical Skills
