Join us for a discussion with graduate alumni mentors on their experiences and recommendations for best practices for inclusive mentorship within the academy and beyond. The panel will begin at 11. 30 am in Frick auditorium and will lead to a networking lunch with alumni, between 12.30 pm- 1.15 pm at Frick Atrium.

Dr. Andrea Morris is currently an Assistant Dean and the founding Director for Career and Professional Development at The Rockefeller University in New York City. Prior to that, Andrea taught and headed an undergraduate neurobiology research lab studying axon guidance as an Associate Professor of Biology at Haverford College in Pennsylvania. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Haverford, and in 1999, became the first African American woman to receive a Ph.D. in the Molecular Biology Program at Princeton University, working with the late Dr. Malcolm Steinberg. After Princeton, Andrea did postdoctoral work at Emory University and Morehouse College in Atlanta as part of an innovative research and teaching program. She is also a leader in the nation’s efforts to diversify academia and the scientific workforce through her work in science education and training, and through serving as an active grant program reviewer for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Andrea has won numerous grants from the NIH throughout her career, and has mentored countless students, postdocs and junior faculty members nationwide, many of whom are from traditionally underrepresented groups in higher education. She also served as Secretary of the Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni (APGA) for several years, and is actively involved in recruiting and retaining a diverse student population within Princeton’s Graduate School. 

She serves as GradFUTURES alumni mentor and alumni-in-residence for Princeton graduate students.

Mika has been a mentor with the GradFutures Mentor Collective Scheme at Princeton since its creation in 2019, working with graduate students in several departments in the Humanities. She is an independent scholar, translator, editorial consultant and illustrator, and a contributing editor for the literary journal Bookanista. At Princeton, Mika was a recipient of the Stanley Seeger and the J. F. Costopoulos fellowships, and read for an MA and a PhD in Comparative Literature in the fields of Classics, English, French, Philosophy and Modern Greek. She taught in several departments while there, was a Cotsen Fellow, and also a graduate fellow at Matthey College, where she led a workshop on ancient drama, staging Antigone in the summer of 2000. Her other studies include Art History, Drama & Scenography, Photography and Cinema. She has additional degrees from the University of Athens (BA summa cum laude), Sorbonne (Diploma in Cinema studies) and Sussex (MA in English Literature and Literary Theory). She has been Chair of the Princeton Alumni Schools Committee of the UK since 2009, and is currently also ASC Chair for France and for the Netherlands, as well as serving her second term as PSC mentor for select regions in Europe, the US and Africa. She is the recipient of the S. Barksdale Penick Jr. '25 Award for her ASC work (2010) and the Alumni Council Award for Service to Princeton (2018), and she served on the Advisory Council of the Department of Comparative Literature until its dissolution in 2022.

Dr. Joseph (Joe) G. Tylka (*19, MAE) is a senior key expert and principal investigator at Siemens Technology US. As principal investigator on both internally- and government-funded research projects, Joe guides the development and implementation of manufacturing automation applications, leveraging the latest technologies in machine learning, industrial robotics, and edge computing. A physicist & mechanical engineer by training, Joe's expertise lies in intelligent control systems, machine learning, and industrial software engineering.

Joe received Ph.D. in 2019 from Princeton University's Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering department, where his dissertation research focused on virtual navigation of measured 3D sound fields. He serves as graduate alumni in residence for GradFUTURES Alumni mentoring program.

Dr. Raghuveer Vinukollu is the Head of Climate Insights and Advisory. at Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. based in Princeton, New Jersey. Raghuveer has a PhD in land surface hydrology from the Civil and Environmental Engineering department; he is also one of the Advisory Council members for the department. He is a passionate advocate for climate adaptation and resiliency with emphasis on the role of insurance and public private partnerships in building resilient communities. Raghuveer’s expertise in Climate Resilience is reflected in the recent articles titled “Re | imagining resilience in a post pandemic world” and “Nature’s remedy: Improving flood resilience through community insurance and nature-based mitigation”. He is also the co-chair for the Princeton Graduate Alumni Annual Giving. "
