THE ETHICS OF DESIGNING A CAMPUS MENTAL HEALTH APP

In this fast-paced role-play workshop, teams will encounter a rapidly-developing ethical problem in their design for a product, and face the real pressures engineers face in these situations. You’ll make choices, defend your positions, get scored on how well you accomplish your goals –" and experience the ethical challenges of tech design in a vivid way. This exercise simulates the “Agile” methods that teams use at all the big tech companies –" so you’ll learn more about work at these firms, and explore the potential for using engineering methods to make an ethical impact.

Avanade

Chris McClean is responsible for driving digital ethics fluency and internal change at Avanade, a digital innovation and consulting firm of over 60,000 employees worldwide. He also advises Avanade’s clients on their own digital ethics journey. Prior to Avanade, Chris spent 12 years in risk management, compliance, corporate values, and ethics. He has an MS in Business Ethics and Compliance and is pursuing a PhD in applied ethics with the University of Leeds.
