Remote access requires using Pulse Secure to remote into the BRG 030 computers to use Synchro. Remote lab instructions are at the end.

Potential agenda:

1. Introduction to simulation (micro/macro) software in general and industry practices (comparison/ pros and cons of various microsimulation software (scope, level of effort/cost, MOEs, etc.)

2. Synchro / SimTraffic introduction and MOEs (V/C, LOS, Delays, and Queues)
Synchro basics – Scenario Manager, layout, importing background images (when bing maps is not available).

3. Lane settings– creating Links, lane configuration/settings, speeds, sat flow rate etc.

4. Volume Settings - PHV inputs, heavy vehicles, PHF, conflicting peds/bicycles, bus blockages, etc.

5. Signal coding basics – control types, NEMA Phasing, OTM Book 12 intro/ clearance intervals, turn type (protected/permitted, etc.) recall modes, pedestrian times, etc.

6. Synchro reports

7. SimTraffic simulations and reports

8. One-lane, two-way traffic example (I.e., temporary signals / flagging operations)

9. Traffic impact assessment example (trip generation, distribution, assignment, signal optimization, signal warrants).
