Dr. Mehdi Nourinejad is an assistant professor at the Civil Engineering Department of York University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto and was a post-doctoral fellow at the Rotman School of Management for two years. Mehdi’s research focuses on optimal planning and control of transportation systems in smart cities with autonomous vehicles. His research on autonomous vehicles has received media coverage and is published in outlets including Forbes, Rotman Magazine, Global News, and others.

Barrie Kirk is the current Executive Director of CAVCOE, a Canadian company that provides consulting services, analyses and recommendations to all stakeholders who are involved in the deployment of automated vehicles (AVs) and/or who will be impacted by their arrival. Barrie has worked in the technology industries in Canada, the U.K., and the U.S., including senior management positions at Ottawa area companies.

He has been a consultant since 1982 specializing in the management and engineering aspects of emerging technologies, especially autonomous vehicles, connected vehicles, ITS, transportation, telematics, telecommunications and satellite communications.
