Sina Varamini

Past, Present, and Future: A Look at Canadian Roadway Infrastructure Design and Construction

Dr. Sina Varamini is research and development manager at McAsphalt Industries limited. He is currently involved in development, optimization, and implementation of innovative and sustainable asphaltic products and processes pertained to road building industry across Canada and overseas. He is actively involved with number of organizations within the industry in delivering practical training and professional development programs to support the betterment of the industry.

Dr. Varamini holds a PhD degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo. He is an active member of Canadian Technical Asphalt Association (CTAA), Transportation Research Board (TRB), Transportation Association of Canada (TAC), and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). Sina is a professional engineer in the province of Ontario, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick in Canada.

Dr. Varamini is a sessional lecturer at York University since 2019, teaching pavement materials and design to 4th year Civil Engineering Students. He is also adjunct professor at the University of Waterloo, Manitoba, and New Brunswick.

Climate Resilient Pavements for Future Roads

Mohammad is an adjunct professor and a research officer at the Government of Canada’s National Research Council (NRC). Since 2018, his research has focused on climate-resilient pavements and sustainable infrastructures. Mohammad earned his Ph.D. degree from the University of Alberta in 2016 in the field of pavement instrumentation, non-destructive testing and structural health monitoring
