The Impact Learning Office plans to take students to the Menil Collection here in Houston. We'll be working with Professor Mark Cervenka from Fine Arts who graciously agreed to be our guide through one of Houston's hidden gems. We'd like to emphasize that spots are limited and we will be following up with students before Spring Break - this will be first come, first serve due to limited seating in the vans. We'll be providing more details about trip logistics during that follow-up.

About the Menil Collection (from their website):

"Spanning from the prehistoric era to the present day, the Menil Collection grew out of personal and intellectual passions rather than encyclopedic ambitions. The heart of the collection are the 10,000 art works and objects gathered by founders John and Dominique de Menil.

Guided equally by spiritual, formal, and historical concerns, the de Menils assembled collections whose intersections confound expectations and demonstrate faith in art's revelatory potential.

Nearly doubling in size since 1997, the collection now stands at some 17,000 works and continues to grow. The Menil is committed to deepening its relationships with artists already in the collection and augmenting its holdings in ways that resonate with the sensibilities of the collection and the museum's mission."
