The Residential Collage: The Shaping of Cornell's North Campus

This walk explores over a century of development on Cornell's North Campus. Beginning in the 1910s, the logistics of housing women at a coeducational university initiated a half century of construction north of Fall Creek. In 2001, new buildings, reconfigured space, and programming transformed North Campus into a first-year student landscape. And now, an unprecedented construction of 2,000 beds, fitness centers and a 1,000-seat dining facility defines a residential campus for first-years and sophomores. Viewing the many lives of North Campus, we will consider gender and style, buildings and spaces, and the stylistic collage we now inhabit.
