Fireside chat with Eris Sims, NAACP Chief of State NAACP: Then, Now and the Future Then: The National Association Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) grew out of race riots that occurred in Springfield, Illinois, in August 1908. Now: African Americans have made significant gains during this century, victorious in the election of a Black president as well as many Supreme Court decisions. Future: Let's talk about it!
