Kellogg Energy & Sustainability Club and Kellogg Retail Club are co-hosting an expert panel on Sustainability in Retail for Social Impact Week! The event will bring together high-level panelists who work in sustainability and ESG roles at Nike, Starbucks, Target, and VF Corporation to discuss their experience, the nuances of their work, trends they're seeing in the retail sector, and advice they have for MBA students interested in pursuing a similar path.

Corporate Sustainability Manager

VF Corporation

Ashley Bink is the Corporate Sustainability Manager at VF Corporation. In her role, Ashley is responsible for managing and reducing the environmental impacts of VF's direct operations at over 1,700 facilities globally. She drives the efforts needed to achieve VF’s publicly stated goals in areas such as renewable energy, waste, green and healthy buildings, and logistics. She also supports the deployment and verification of the Higg Brand & Retail Module for all of VF's iconic brands. Ashley is a Certified Public Accountant in North Carolina and worked as an Accounting Manager for a medical device manufacturing startup prior to joining VF Corporation. She holds a Master’s degree in Accounting from North Carolina State University, a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Accounting from Anderson University, and is a Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting Credential Holder.

Joanna Herrmann is currently the Director, North America Supply Chain Innovation & Sustainability at Nike as well as a Lead at Nike Refurbished. She holds a dual Masters in Sustainable Systems from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the Ross School of Business. She also has a Bachelor of Arts in Human Rights and Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Virginia. Prior to Nike, Joanna spent several years working at The Aspen Institute.

Target

Chad Krueger is currently the Senior Director, ESG at Target within Corporate Responsibility. He started this newly created position at Target in August, 2021 after spending the prior 12 years at Target in various positions across the FP&A team. The new ESG role allows him to combine his personal passions of helping people and the planet with his experience in Finance supporting Merchandising, Supply Chain, Stores, and Properties along with his relationships across the Finance pyramid. Chad started his career at Target in the Finance Leadership Development Program following the completion of his MBA at Indiana University. Additionally, he is a proud Golden Gopher, having completed his undergrad at the University of Minnesota.

Starbucks

Suzanne Tedrow is currently the Director, Sustainability, Global Store Development at Starbucks. She is an experienced sustainability leader with success in championing and executing strategic initiatives at scale. Having previously worked at major global companies like United Airlines, Continental Airlines, and PSC, Suzanne has expertise in leading strategy and programming in renewable energy, retail sustainability, employee engagement, and environmental certification. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Western Washington University.
