August Clayton
Sustainability and Facilitation Lead
Mosaic Cooperative
Rooted in St. Mary's County, August is a young, Black resource mobilizer, blue crab lover, and founder of Mosaic. During his first few years in underground, he began organizing around trans student housing, sports, programming, retention and success. After a few years of organizing around HIV policy, prevention, and destigmatization, he shifted entirely to developing trans-led organizations. August is committed to a culture of storytelling, fundraising, and exploring solidarity economies to mobilize resources for Black folks. He graduated from Towson University in 2020. August founded Mosaid with the intent to mobilize resources to the boys (Black trans men and masculine folks), and establish a land trust to distribute, resources, crops, and alternatives to safety in Maryland.
