No one is perfect, everyone has slipups while learning from trial and error. But when mistakes feel like failures and the word "no" sounds like "never" … that's a sign that our inner critic has taken the wheel. Often times, we have deeply held beliefs that our "inner critic" is primarily responsible for our successes. We think "where would I be without that troublesome voice forcing me to strive for excellence and not settle for less?" The journey to and through Hopkins requires dedication, work, and self-confidence. How can we motivate ourselves to "be the best we can be", when that tiny voice is constantly filling our head with doubt? In this series, we discuss the origins of the inner critic and strategies to counteract the critic so that we feel empowered to take healthy risks to reach our potential.
