Teaching Assistants can have a lasting impact as mentors on their students, and can influence students' academic performance, and sense of confidence and possibility. At the same time, it can be hard for Teaching Assistants to balance their mentorship work and their busy PhD schedules. In this interactive workshop, we will discuss best practices and resources to be caring and supportive mentors for students while also navigating the commitments of graduate school. You will also learn about CLAS and the many ways in which they can support undergraduate learning. Hot drinks and goodie bags from the UCSB Mental Health Peers will be provided.
