When Does "I Love You" Mean I Love You? Cultural Variation in Perceived Responsiveness
Delancey Wu, Psychological and Brain Sciences

Research on perceived responsiveness, a core component of close relationship processes, have typically focused on individualistic cultural assumptions about what is responsive, supportive, and loving. This project examines supportive behaviors across individualistic and collectivistic samples, specifically among European-American and Asian-American participants. Similarities and differences in what participants perceived as responsive and the outcomes of perceiving responsiveness in one's relationships will be discussed.

The Importance of a New [Midrashic] Interpretation of Revelation's New Jerusalem for Conservation of this World Jamila Herman Gonzalez, Religious Studies
Many Christians place hope in John’s vision of a new Jerusalem and thus, do not see the urgency in preserving this planet. If, however, John’s vision is placed within the milieu of rabbinical midrash, John stops being a singular author describing a direct vision from God and becomes a channel of collective authorship preserving varied readings of the new Jerusalem. Thus, the absoluteness of the Christian hope in a new world would become musings on what might be.

Note: Each talk will be recorded for personal use by the presenter, but no participant information or Q&A will be captured.
