Please join the Yale Environmental Law Association for a lively discussion about the future of climate policy and administrative law. Our distinguished panelists will analyze the Supreme Court’s decision in West Virginia v. EPA, which invoked the “major questions doctrine” to hamstring the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. They will also assess the climate and energy provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act and discuss the next frontier of efforts to tackle the climate crisis and grapple with the fate of our constitutional order.

Featuring:

  • Cristina Rodríguez, Leighton Homer Surbeck Professor of Law and Counselor to the Dean, Yale Law School. Cristina Rodríguez's fields of research and teaching include constitutional law and theory, immigration law and policy, administrative law and process, and citizenship theory.
  • Jean Su, Energy Justice Program Director and Senior Attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity. Jean Su is the director of the Energy Justice program and a senior attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity. She leads a dynamic team that wages strategic litigation and policy campaigns dedicated to fighting the climate emergency by advancing a just, renewable, and anti-racist energy future. She chairs the Board of Climate Action Network International, the world’s largest network consisting of 1,200 climate organizations, and sits on Lawrence Berkeley National Lab's advisory board on the Future of Electric Utility Regulation.
  • Leah Litman, Assistant Professor of Law, University of Michigan. Leah Litman is an assistant professor of law at the University Michigan and a co-host of Strict Scrutiny, a Crooked Media podcast about the Supreme Court. She researches and writes on constitutional law and federal courts.
