Details

Elton Naswood is a Two-Spirit knowledge keeper and shares virtual space with the Mason community for LGBTQ+ History Month and Native American and Indigenous Heritage Month. This event is sponsored by the LGBTQ+ Resources Center, the Native American and Indigenous Alliance (NAIA), and the Center for Culture, Equity, and Empowerment (CCEE).

Elton is of the Near to the Water People Clan, born for the Edge Water Clan. His maternal grandfather's clan is of the Mexican People, and his paternal grandfather's clan is of the Tangle People; this is how he is Navajo, Diné. He is originally from Whitehorse Lake, New Mexico, on the Navajo Reservation, and resides in Denver, Colorado.

Mr. Naswood is currently a Two-Spirit advocate and a member of SWIWC's Two-Spirit/LGBTQ Advisory Council and formally co-coordinator for the National Native HIV Network and was the U.S. Representative Leader for the International Indigenous Working Group on HIV/AIDS.

Mr. Naswood received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and American Indian Justice Studies from Arizona State University. He attended the graduate degree program in American Indian Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles.
