Virtual Info Session - Florence Semester Experience and Summer Art & Memory in Rome and Florence (Mason-led)
Details
The Florence Semester Experience is offered each spring semester as an introduction to Italian art, culture, history and language. It was during the Middle Ages and Renaissance Era that Florence became the cultural hub of Europe, where artists like Leonardo DaVinci and Michelangelo, architects like Brunelleschi, and writers like Dante flourished. The evidence of their achievements is still present throughout Florence in palaces, squares, churches, monuments, and museums. Spring 2022 will be led by Dr. Lisa Bauman.
Art & Memory in Rome and Florence four-week study abroad experience with Drs Lisa Bauman and Christopher Gregg. We will engage in two approaches: in one, students will have the unique opportunity to experience artworks as their original viewers did and as their creators intended. The other approach unpacks the artificial environments for viewing works of art created by figures ranging from Roman emperors, to Renaissance Popes, to the Fascist dictator Mussolini. You will become familiar with the cities of Rome and Florence neighborhood by neighborhood as we visit museums, archaeological sites, churches and palaces.
Come learn about both opportunities through the Global Education Office.
