RIT's Popular Music Collective hosts a three-part series on recording with Josh Pettinger of Wicked Squid Studios in Rochester, NY.

2/17: Session I - Drum and bass mic’ing/tracking/editing; building headphone mixes; scratch tracks; building compilations; pre mix

2/24: Session II - Guitar and vocal overdubbing; comping and editing; vocal prep and layering

3/2: Sessions III - Basic mix/master; room acoustics and monitoring; mix prep/balance/headroom; understanding EQ and compression

These hands-on workshops will take place in the Annex 907 recording studio and cover the basics of live tracking including microphone placement and setup, overdubbing, and basic mixing and editing in Logic Pro. Whether you are solo musician, part of a band, or just interested in learning recording technology this is a great crash course that will prepare you to jump into recording using the Annex 907 studio.

Owner & Operator of Wicked Squid Studios
Josh has had a deep passion for the art of audio production since 2005. He holds an A.S. and B.A. in Audio Technology and has run Wicked Squid since 2011. His skill sets range from remote audio recording and mixing to artist development and management.
