Let's Talk is a confidential drop-in service offering informal consultation and support with a professional counselor serving as a consultant outside of the counseling center. Let's Talk serves two purposes: 1. Allows for students to try out talking to a counselor to see what it is like and if it is helpful before engaging in the formalities of counseling, and 2. To build resiliency by receiving support and consultation from a professional about concerns that may not warrant ongoing counseling but would be beneficial to support overall wellness and resolution of problems as they arise.
Although you will meet with a counselor from RIT CaPS, Let's Talk is NOT counseling and counselors will be serving within a consultant role. As a result, Let's Talk does not involve a formal intake or evaluation, is not located in the counseling center, and involves minimal paperwork.
Your Let's Talk counselor is able to answer questions you have about psychotherapy. They can also schedule an appointment with an intake counselor at CaPS, who will conduct a more thorough assessment to determine what specific services can best assist you.
