Higher education and student affairs professionals are often the first to respond to help college students who are experiencing trauma; these professionals also help to coordinate larger university crisis responses. Not only do these professionals have high job demands, they are exposed to the trauma of others through their helping work.

On Friday, March 8, Dr. Jody Kunk-Czaplicki will present her research of the first national study that investigated burnout from an organizational lens in these helping professionals. Her research talk, How Work Factors and Exposure to Trauma Influences Burnout in Higher Education Professionals, will focus on the relationship between job demands, job resources, and exposure to trauma on burnout. The event will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm in Noble Commons in the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences. Jimmy Johns sandwiches, lemonade, and iced tea will be provided.

This research talk is co-sponsored by The Flora Stone Mather Center for Women and The Center on Trauma and Adversity, Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences.
