Please download this article and review before our session: Becky Supiano Teaching A Sea of Students: Large enrollment courses have a bad reputation. Here how colleges can make them better. The Chronicle of Higher Education, February 24, 2022

Encompassing issues from communication with large classes (both in-class and out), to their assessment, to replacing uninterrupted lecturing with appropriate active learning, to harnessing the pedagogy power of teaching assistants, this article offers some practical insights into teaching large classes across disciplines. Come ready to chat and pose questions about the observations made in the article. The goal of the session will be to share current thinking in higher education, and to encourage participants to gauge how (if?) the article aligns with their experiences and expectations of teaching in higher education.
