Want to learn how to navigate the challenges of reading and writing in STEM fields?

The Writing Resource Center and Kelvin Smith Library are excited to be offering a three-part series of workshops presented by faculty and staff who are experts in STEM communication. The workshop will cover topics such as how to make sense of complex scientific articles, ways to hone your arguments in scientific and engineering papers, and new methods for thinking about the representation of quantitative data. In addition, the series will help students rethink their reading and writing habits so that they can develop lasting strategies to support their own work at CWRU and beyond. This online series is open to all students, but will be especially useful to underrepresented student groups, upper-class undergraduates, and new graduate students in scientific and engineering fields.

Led by Dr. Laura Bruckman, Research Associate Professor in the Materials Science and Engineering Department.

Laura S. Bruckman is an Associate Research Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in the Case School of Engineering, Case Western Reserve University. Her research is focused on a data science approach to materials degradation. Her research has application to solar packaging materials, building envelope materials, and coatings. She teaches in the Applied Data Science program at CWRU with a focus on visualization and analytics.
