This event is open to CWRU students, faculty, staff, and the general public and will be held in Tinkham Veale University Center - Ballroom A. Registration is required via CampusGroups for in-person attendance and will also be streamed live on: https://case.edu/livestream/s2. Livestream attendance does not require registration.
Free gift for all in-person attendees. You may arrive as early as 4:30pm and the event will begin promptly at 5pm. At the end of the event, an Amazon Echo Dot and an Amazon Echo Show will be raffled off. To be eligible to win, you must check in at the event and be present during the time of the raffle.
GELS is a student organization that seeks to challenge our beliefs and understanding on particular topics through dialogue and discourse. We believe that discussing pressing issues such as climate change is essential for developing robust solutions. GELS is sponsored and advised by the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence.
Speakers
Callia T├®llez
Callia Téllez is an environmental policy fellow on the Ohio Environmental Council who works towards evaluating regulations and legislative environmental policy. Callia also engages in climate research areas especially focused in environmental justice through a racial and equity lens.
Andrew Watterson
Andrew Watterson is a sustainability and corporate responsibility professional with nearly 20 years of experience creating positive social, environmental, and economic impacts in both public and private sector roles. Andrew is a CWRU Weatherhead alum, and was the First Chief of Sustainability for the City of Cleveland. He also served as the VP of Sustainability for Key Bank and now serves as a social and environmental consultant.
Stephanie Howse
Presently as a Cleveland City Council member, Stephanie Howse has a professional career that spans from being an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer to an Educator to now being an Elected Official. She also previously served as a State Representative for Ohio’s 11th House District. She has a B.S. in Civil (Environmental) Engineering from Florida A&M, and an M.A. in Environmental Studies from Cleveland State University.
