Alice Blumenfeld
Abrepaso Flamenco
Alice Blumenfeld fell in love with flamenco at age 12, and since then it has been the driving force in her life. Blumenfeld is a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, a YoungArts Silver Award winner in World Dance, a Fulbright recipient in Dance, and an Individual Excellence Awardee in Choreography from the Ohio Arts Council (FY 20). She is the founder and artistic director of ABREPASO Flamenco and she holds an MFA in dance from Hollins University and a BA in comparative literature from New York University, where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. As a freelance dancer, she has worked with many of the major flamenco companies in the U.S., including Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana. Her work has been commissioned by National YoungArts Foundation, The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, The National Hispanic Cultural Center, and several universities.
Carolina Borja
Carolina is currently a member of the Cleveland based ensembles Kombilesa Asé and Sororii. She is a new directions cellist, Afro Colombian cantaora, educator and composer that has gathered her eclectic experience from collaborating with folk fusion and world music bands, interdisciplinary groups of artists, dance companies, chamber music ensembles and orchestras.
Carolina holds a masters degree in Cello Performance Pedagogy from Ohio Univerity. She is a Fulbright, Martin Luther King Jr. and the United States of America State Department Fellow, among other distinctions.
Carolina is the founder and director of the Afro Colombian Strings Scholarship and the Tutti Music Program.
