Civically Engaged Scholars Podcast Dialogue Series Presents:
RADICAL IMAGINATION: SEASON 2

listen. dialogue. imagine.

Join Civically Engaged Scholars and the Radical Imagination podcast, hosted by PolicyLink Founder-in-Residence Angela Glover Blackwell. It features conversations with thinkers and changemakers from multiple fields who are wielding instruments of influence — academia, activism, media, government — to deliver equity wins at scale. Read more about the podcast online.

The purpose of the CES Podcast Dialogue Series is to promote listening, to have meaningful dialogue, and to encourage imagination. To listen is to explore a medium of communication that is allowing more and more individuals to obtain pertinent information; podcasts have been present for several years and it is necessary to interact with the content they provide in order to enrich one another. Such enrichment can manifest itself through dialogue, or the layering of conversations by continuing discussions and understanding. By exploring the contradictions present in the content and juxtaposing it with participants’ realities, productive work oriented to collective action can develop. Thus, by destroying and creating new realities in our minds, the dialogues can lead to real-world reflexive analysis, debate, and further action. Imagination is an ability that when continuously used, can lead to self-actualization and material consequences.

GROUND RULES FOR CES PODCAST DIALOGUE SERIES

  • Listen to other voices. Listening is as important as speaking.
  • Consider each subject, looking at its benefits and its trade-offs.
  • Everyone is encouraged to participate.
  • No one or two individuals should dominate the conversation.
  • It’s okay to disagree, but do so with curiosity, not hostility.
  • Learning more about how others think is one of the most interesting parts of a forum.
  • Seek to understand, then to be understood.
  • Keep an open mind. Avoid coming to conclusions, these conversations are meant to explore content, to converse, and to entertain potential realities.
If you have additional ground rules, please send them to Cristobal.Villegas@slcc.edu! These ground rules are based on NASPA’s first issue guide, Free Speech and the Inclusive Campus: How Do We Foster the Campus Community We Want?

All the Dialogues will occur at Noon via Zoom! The schedule for the Spring 2021 is as follows:
