On March 31st, join us as The Journey To Wellness Workshops brings us the support and resources we need to take care of our loved ones, while taking care of ourselves. Three speakers will be discussing this journey: taking care of the aging person in your life, the importance of taking care of your own health and wellness, and the local programs and services available in the tri-counties.

Gina Bell is the creator of the Journey to Wellness Workshops. She holds a Masters in Clinical Psychology, teaches at Santa Barbara City College, has lead multiple seminars and courses in the field of psychology and elder care, and as a caregiver for her own parents she has experienced what the journey looks like first hand.

Kathryn Cherkas, Director of Programs for the Alzheimer’s Association California Central Coast Chapter, will speak to the range of no-cost programs and services available on a local, community based level to residents of Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

The AA-CCC is committed to reshaping public perception of dementia and widen access to care & support for those impacted directly and indirectly.

There are currently over 35,000 people in our tri-county area living with some form of dementia and that number is growing at rapid pace. Therefore, it is important for us to be aware of what dementia is, what it isn't, and how we can support those living with a diagnosis as well as their caregivers and families.

Linda Abbit

Linda Abbit is the author of The Conscious Caregiver: A Mindful Approach to Caring for Your Loved One Without Losing Yourself, (Simon & Schuster, 2017). She is an eldercare professional and caregiver with more than 25 years of experience. She will speak on how to take care of yourself while taking care of your loved one.
