In his role as CEO of Highlights for Children, Kent Johnson is responsible for leading Highlights and its family of companies and works closely with the senior leadership team on long-term strategic planning. His key focuses include evolving Highlights’ offerings to best serve a growing audience of parents and caregivers and evaluating opportunities to make a greater impact on a global scale – all while keeping Highlights’ mission at the center of everything the company does. He is also a member of the board of directors, and previously served as a corporate vice president of strategic management.

Johnson is proud to serve as the CEO of the company which his great-grandparents, Garry Cleveland Myers, Ph.D., and Caroline Clark Myers, founded in 1946. While he initially had no aspirations to work in the family business, he officially joined the company in 2005 and continues to be inspired by the mission to help children become their best selves – curious, creative, caring and confident – and motivated by the challenge of carrying that philosophy into new markets around the world.

Johnson received his bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and his doctorate in physics from Harvard University. Before joining Highlights, he served in various roles in scientific research and development, manufacturing and operations. Johnson lives in Columbus, Ohio with his wife and two sons.
