Join The Office of Health Promotion & Wellness, University Counseling Services, and The Office of Multicultural Student Success (OMSS) for a panel discussion to honor National Eating Disorder Awareness Week. We will welcome a therapist and dietician from the Eating Recovery Center, a student advocate, and a therapist from the Chicago area.

Hannah Sharkey RDN, LDN is a Clinical Dietitian at the Eating Recovery Center in Chicago, IL for the Intensive Outpatient Program focused in eating disorders. Hannah attended Illinois State University for her Bachelor's of Science and completed her Dietetic Internship at Iowa State University. Hannah utilizes a Health at Every Size approach in her patient care. She believes strongly in promoting and providing equal and quality care for people of all body shapes and sizes, genders, and race.

Dr. Rebecca Hansen is the Clinical Manager of Eating Disorder Services at ERC and Pathlight in Chicago. She has worked with ERC since 2014 in all levels of care. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Ball State University. She completed her internship at the University of Missouri-Columbia and completed her Post-doctoral Fellowship at Northwestern University’s Counseling and Psychological Services. Her clinical interest areas include eating disorders, relational issues, training and supervision. She utilizes a feminist, interpersonal approach in both supervisory and clinical work.

Andy Carton is a pre-doctoral intern at the Eating Recovery Center in downtown Chicago where he serves as a therapist focusing on eating disorders as well as comorbid substance use, mood, and personality disorders. Prior to ERC, Andy served as a clinician at a residential substance abuse rehabilitation facility, a historically black public university’s college counseling center, and a community mental health clinic. Andy earned a master’s degree in psychology and graduate certificate in political psychology from George Washington University. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Towson University. This summer, he will earn his doctorate in psychology from George Washington University. Andy’s clinical and research interests include health psychology, fitness psychology, and social psychology.

Ashantis Jonesis a Chicago blogger using her platform to teach her community how they can live a healthy and purposeful life today. She's currently completing her master's degree in Counseling while managing a full-time job in fitness. As a queer, feminist twenty-something, she advocates for self-love through an intersectional and health at every size approach. Her followers have come to love her honest take and reflection on a variety of topics, including Chicago eats, body image, self-confidence, and travel.

Sara Vivens, MA, LCPC is a psychotherapist and anti-oppression advocate who uses multicultural and multisystemic lenses to explore systematic disenfranchisement and adaptive coping techniques, particularly as present within eating disorders in BIPOC communities. She has provided training for schools and organizations to develop spaces for acknowledgement of privilege and power, while also dismantling dynamics which foster inequity.
Sara holds her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development Psychology from DePaul University, and Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is also a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and specializes in the treatment of eating disorders through decolonization and dismantling of white supremacy, as well as anti-racism advocacy.
